There are numerous ways to find richer content:
The best way to get an overview of the golf course is to double-click any location on the golf course and you will fly there. You can also experiment with the Google Earth navigation controls to the top right hand corner to navigate. This is sometimes tricky but you’ll get the hang of it!
To see more information click on any clearly identifiable marker/icon and you’ll enable a popup box of information. This popup is also called a Point of Interest (POI). Within the POI, you can find many things.
Here are some examples:
- Within the POIs … you can fly from tee to fairway to green for every hole simply by pressing the dynamic fly to link.
- Panoramic views of most tees, fairways and greens (these shots were taken before the Ryder Cup event, but it does gives a good overview of what the Valhalla Golf Course looks like … its spectacular!) Hint – Use the controls to go left or right or use the mouse and drag the panoramic view for a full 360 view! Also click Exit Panorama to easily get back to the Golfskin.
- Click on embedded video clips within the Tee POIs. Press … play … and watch.
For the more experienced Google Earth users … expand and contract the menu in the left side bar. Within those layers of information you can find additional content that is defaulted off. Simply check or uncheck the box beside it to turn those features on and off.
Here are some examples:
- Course/holes/ - you can select Borders – Shows outlines of all the course tees, fairways and greens.
- Course/Amenities – you can select More – Shows entrances, washrooms, telephones, first-aid, grand stand, concessions, atms, Ryder Cup Office and public internet
